lest we die
before we can understand
throw ourselves to the wind
like so much sand
catch the fire in our midst
or scatter across the land

thought id fly like an eagle once
so i jumped into the sky
but i became a ladybug

heaven lay about like the family dog
while we grew up
why did we grow up so?
what gave us a heart and a soul?
we gaze at the windowless wall
and we faint from heat stroke

dreams sometimes leave a residue
lasting forever
but we could not discover the truth
or could not remember
so we gaze at the windowless view
