but the camel is a brute
designed to walk through

there is no other person
so i sing in his ear

'i find a rock and sit
camel, you wait for me
while i am thirsty'

the angel came with his pure will which was a scimitar in his hand
his eyes were the tips of a flame
his nostrils two tunneling winds
his mouth the knife of a wave
and his beard root-laden earth

he said "the camel is a brute on which you move through the desert
beyond the desert is the sea

"look at the sand, understand?
now look in the eyes of the camel"
