I found myself first alone in the heart
like drawn there through the dark
they bent toward me and touched my hands
and stormed me by, their winded mules in front, their worried eyes
jaws hanging open in the souq
a king of gold in his foreign suit
under crazy stars, gawking stupidly at us from above
low hanging heads on the over-burdened
big eyed and foamy lipped
carry the rock to the top
with jeering faces, in deformed formations

and starry eyed, stumbling back down town
only on the ocean
bloody headache coming in through the heat
dark and soft hands pulling me

and budding only then the strangest bud
a blossom in my head, a great confusion
one i did not yet know to be
